Revolutionary Women’s Bible Study To Actually Study Bible

CHARLOTTE, NC—According to reports from within the church, Southpoint Baptist of Charlotte plans to include a revolutionary women’s Bible study class in their fall curriculum that will study an actual book of the Bible, bucking the deeply ingrained tradition of using women’s Bible studies to collectively read through a modern book on Christian living.

A signup at the church website Wednesday listed several study and small group offerings, including a video series by Beth Moore, a class titled “Mothering Through the Storm,” and a study of Priscilla Shirer’s book Fervent. Near the bottom of the page, however, women had the option to join a study on the book of Galatians, Paul’s letter in the New Testament of God’s inerrant, inspired Word, which sources confirmed is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

“It’s a crazy idea, we know—but we’re going to step out in faith and see if it catches on,” said lead pastor Dave Fisher. “To my knowledge, a women’s Bible study has never been used to study the Bible, so we have no idea what to expect. We’ve never been afraid to be cutting-edge and contemporary. And if it bombs, well hey, they can always go back to skimming through the latest product aimed at Christian women.”

At publishing time, sources report the Galatians study was slated for cancellation, as only 3 women had signed up, each of whom was over the age of 55 and did not fit the target demographic of the women’s ministry.
